Guide Neighbourhoods
In 2006, Perry Common was selected as on of fifteen Guide Neighbourhoods accross England that were hailed by the Home Office as some of the best examples of local residents making a positive impact in their own community.
The underlying principle of the Guide Neighbourhoods Programme was that residents in deprived neighbourhoods can learn from one another about ‘what works’ in neighbourhood regeneration and apply those lessons at a practical level within their own communities.1
Unfortunately, the Home Office Funding for the programme ended a year later however in Perry Common, like many of the other Guide Neighbourhoods, we were keen to keep the programme going without the funding from the Home Office and over the last two years, we have hosted a number of visits from community groups accross the country.
In 2009, thanks to funding from the Regional Action West Midlands, the West Midlands area Guide Neighbourhoods have secured funding to allow us to host visits again without having to charge groups or incur costs ourselves.
There are currently two dates earmarked for visits to Perry Common:
If you would like to book onto one of these free visits, please call Ian on 0121 748 8114.
